Located in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York state, Canandaigua sits
between Rochester and Syracuse. Bordered by Lake Canandaigua and surrounded
by rolling hills, this location provides for a number of activities, from boat
tours and fishing to skiing at nearby Bristol Mountain. Aside from outdoor adventure,
Canandaigua is known for the fertile soil that is used to produce fruits, vegetables
and wine grapes. Tours of the local wineries are offered throughout the year
and constitute a major draw for visitors to the area. The Granger Homestead
and Carriage Museum chronicles Canandaigua's history and features a number of
horse drawn vehicles and sleighs. Carriage rides are also offered at this museum
and allow visitors to experience a mode of transport that has all but disappeared.
